The Salt Cellar is a valley staple, in business since 1971. Known for their unique underground location, The Salt Cellar offers a wide range of entrees from lobster, which the servers open at your table as part of the service, to succulent salmon to New York strip.
Dropping in unexpectedly at the Salt Cellar isn’t recommended as they are booked most of the time and reservations will ensure getting into this Scottsdale hot spot. Learning the hard way, we ventured back to the Salt Cellar with a reservation this time and were seated immediately.
I can’t tell you how cool it is to walk down two flights of stairs to this underground hideaway and dine in a dimly lit, intimate setting.
My companion had a craving for fresh lobster and I chose
teriyaki ahi over habaneras pasta. Unlike other top notch restaurants, the Salt Cellar doesn’t drag the dinner out for hours and we spent less than 20 minutes eating our meals.
Both meals were fantastic. Not only were they perfectly cooked, but the flavor was off the charts. Our total bill came to around $70 and the service alone was worth every penny. The servers are very professional and make your stay at the Salt Cellar a comfortable one. Our server provided us with a steamed lemon scented towel to clean up after the meal — very impressive.

With top notch service, amazing food, and one of the most unique dining settings I’ve experienced in quite sometime, the Salt Cellar is a recommended visit.
