Have you ever been in the right place at the right time but still felt out of place? Well I learned an important lesson; never judge a restaurant by its name. I thought any restaurant with the name of a guy in the title had to be casual dining. That couldn’t be further from the truth at Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion.They put the “up” in up-scale. I wasn’t seated for more than a minute before a server placed my napkin in my lap for me, while two others poured our various beverages.
Roy's sets the standard for restaurants of this caliber. Once you get past the reality of eliminating any chance for questions like “can I super size that flaky lobster thingy”, the comfort level of being pampered starts to feel pretty good. Forget what you know about food. Roy’s brings life, flavor and creativity to the table like you aren’t accustomed to.
With a new menu every single day and menu items to die for, you know going in you won’t be disappointed. My companion and I both ordered combinations, which consisted of an appetizer, entree choice and dessert for $30 a piece.
I cannot describe how amazing every single morsel of food tasted without doing Roy’s a disservice. I despise vegetables, yet I was literally licking the appetizer plate after being served a healthy portion. We had everything from mahi-mahi to rib off the bone and they were infused with life and flavor that one must actually taste to understand.
When dessert arrived, we were flabbergasted by the layers of textured goodness that crunched, oozed, melted and savored to the last drop.
Our service was Five-Star which paralleled the food and atmosphere. If you go out only once a year or once a week, you must visit this Pacific island treasure.
