Humanity Makes Us Human

Is there any morality left in us? Do we have enough humanity left in us to at least make sure that we treat our fellow humans with the same dignity and honor like the way we expect for ourselves? I really see humans on the verge of vulnerability.

When are we going to realize our purpose for being sent on the planet with the body that is way more capable of performing better tasks than any other breathing creature coexisting on the planet? our cold attitude towards others has made us so indifferent in terms of our behavior and performances that we leave even our aging parent in the lurch.

I remember an incident that when I was coming out after attending my MBA coaching classes and was busy with the scorecards which asked to convert GRE to GMAT. I saw a beggar eating out of the garbage. This pathetic view of the beggar eating from the garbage made me bleed inside. I chose not to convert GRE to GMAT at that instant of time and help the beggar with some food. A small act of benevolence can really fetch a smile on somebody’s face which is sure to fetch a surge of happiness and satisfaction on your face too.

The people are meant to be loved irrespective of their casts, color, regions, religions, and sex. We, humans, are considered to be a gregarious living clan that shows adaptability to almost all shots of the environment and hence falls on the top of the animal kingdom.

So if we still consider ourselves humans where it perfectly reconciles with the job description as stated above, it becomes our responsibility to take care of everyone around us to the best of our capabilities.

How can’t we stay silent when we see the people suffering? The recent news that depicts the pathetic condition of the denizens of Syria who has been suffering excruciating pain for the last six years is rather nauseating and should be condemned.

How being human makes you act like an animal? How can we kill our own people and burn innocent children just to prove our might to the world for no valid reason? When will these ruthless creatures stop being a smudge in the name of humans?

We all need to rise in unison to combat this inhumanity to save all of us from the more we are being jostled into. This is the time when we need to rise against the evils that are constantly eating up humanity, making the globe is just a piece of land.

My Insipid College Life

My initial days of college have been rather excruciating where I struggled almost every single day to find myself a place in the good books of my teachers and failed terribly. I was then pursuing an undergraduate in computer science and had to rack my brain over mind-numbing programmings and codings. Most of my time elapsed in nailing these hardcore subjects and I could hardly get any time for self-development.

I could never get spare time to work on myself and enjoy myself. The schedule used to be so hectic that I lost myself among the dusty books and scattered bare pages. I barely could read a book apart from the core books that I was suggested for academic betterment. I pursued no hobbies, hardly went out to celebrate with friends and was rather conserved which could be perceived as an insipid life. The life that I lead was more of a monotonous and hectic schedule with no adventure in it.

On the other hand, my classmates had a completely different life that I longed for during my college days. They had stories to tell and regale people around them. They had anecdotes which never ended and perhaps a life that was being carried out either in the pretention or in ignorance. I indeed was materially and emotionally equipped but I always missed the life they were leading then.

I used to stay busy with the codings while my friends loitered around holding hands and skipping lectures and bunking classes. They used to hit the internet to socialize with the girls while I was busy looking for free online XLM to JSON converter on the internet.

Of rainbows and sunshine

There are times in life when you come across incidents which touch the deepest parts of your soul and make you a different person. One such incident happened to me on the 31st of December 2017. This was the time when I was in the final semester of my graduation.

Everyone in the hostel was in a party mood that night. It was the last day of the year and there was no reason not to celebrate that night. We were a bunch of crazy hostelers and there was no limit to the fun we were having.

While it was close to midnight and the world was ready to welcome the new year, there was a loud noise coming from the street. The noise seemed like the collision of vehicles. Just out of curiosity, we went out into the street to find out what was going on.

On reaching the spot where the commotion was happening, we saw a car turned upside down. There was a girl inside the car strapped to the seat belt. A few meters ahead, there were two teenagers lying beside a bike. People were trying to help them while they were crying in pain. The girl in the car was quiet. I couldn’t see her face.

Someone from the crowd came forward and tried to help her. It was then that I saw her face. It was Shreya. Shreya Jaiswal, my school time crush. She was one of the most beautiful girls I had seen. Seeing her in this condition was not easy. I moved ahead and offered to help.

Minutes later, I was inside the ambulance with her. I was there with her in the hospital. It was new year already. I had never had a new year event like that. I held her hand and kept looking at her face. She had the same baby face which made me fall in love with her in my school days. Only this time there were cuts on it.

Pieces of glass from the car dashboard had gotten into her face. I had the fear that her eyes got hurt. My fears came true when the doctors gave their reports after the initial first aid and examination. She had lost her eyesight.

I was in utter shock to know this. I couldn’t even think of the pain she would go through when she gets to realize that she has lost her vision. This was one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life.

Days passed on. Her parents came and took her home. They thanked me for the help. I asked them if I could come to visit her sometimes. They said I could do that if she wanted to. I gave them my number and asked them to call me if there was something I could help them with.

A month later, I got a call from an unknown number. It was Shreya. She wanted to thank me personally. I went there and she was glad to know who I actually was.

After that, I started visiting her whenever I could. I would read books to her and share jokes to make her laugh. I even tried to convince her to learn braille. Between that day and this day, many things have happened. My life has changed in a good way. She has become a beautiful part of my life now. She has come like a rainbow into my life and made my life beautiful and I intend to be the sunshine of her life forever.
