All ghosts, goblins, ghouls,
creatures, characters and superheros are invited to an afternoon of fun at the
City’s annual Family Halloween Festivities. This event will be held from 1-3:30
p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2004, at the Library Plaza in downtown Chandler,
125 E. Commonwealth Ave.
Throughout the event the popular Persephone will perform kids’ interactive music. There will be games, refreshments for sale, and everyone is welcome to wear a costume and enter the costume contest at 2:30 p.m. Costume contest categories are as follows: Scariest, Best Comic Book or Cartoon Character, Best Fairy Tale or Story Book Character, Most Original, and Best Family.
In the event of inclement weather, the festivities will be held next door inside the Community Center.

House

Chandler youths and teens are invited to scare up some free and safe fun on Saturday, October 30, 2004, from 7-10 p.m. at the Snedigar Recreation Center’s annual Haunted House event.
The Snedigar Recreation Center haunted house is built by, staffed by and designed primarily for youths and teens over 10 years of age. Parents are welcome to accompany their kids through the Haunted House. Any teens interested in volunteering to build the haunted house, and outgoing teens who want to dress up in costume and perform at the haunted house are asked to come to the center on Saturday, October 30, at 3 p.m. All potential ghosts, goblins and scary creatures are invited to join in the fun.

Gilbert Family Halloween Carnival

Residents can dress up in their
favorite costumes and join the fun at the Family Halloween Carnival presented by
Mercy Gilbert Medical Center on October 30 at Freestone Park. The event includes
fun children's activities, costume parades, face painting, arts and crafts, live
entertainment and food and beverages. The Gilbert Police Department K9 Unit will
put on a demonstration, and various community groups will perform and entertain.
The event also includes a pumpkin decorating area sponsored by the Future
Farmers of America, where residents can bring a pumpkin or purchase one at the
carnival. Decorating supplies will be provided to pumpkin decorators at no cost.
Admission to the event is $2 for ages 2-12 years, $3 for ages 13 and older, and under the age of 2 years is free. Parking is free and some activities require tickets and/or a wristband, which can be purchased in advance or at the event. Advance wristbands can be purchased for the discounted price of $12 at three locations during operating hours: the Parks and Recreation Office at 70 E. Civic Center Drive between October 18-29; the Freestone Recreation Center at 1411 E. Guadalupe Road between October 16-30, and McQueen Park Activity Center at 510 N. Horne St. from October 18-29. Call 503-6294 for hours. Activity wristbands will also be sold for $15 at the event.

It's the 15th annual Boo! At the Phoenix Zoo and you're invited to come in costume and join in the popular mascot masquerade parades as dozens of costume characters from around the valley march, hop, skip and shuffle around the Zoo! This FREE event provides a safe and unique way children can “trick or treat” by going from one automobile trunk to another to get their bags filled with goodies and have lots of fun. Join us 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Founder’s Park, 22407 S. Ellsworth Road. Lots of exciting features will be added to this year’s fall event: magic shows, puppet shows, hay rides, a petting zoo, music, face painting, balloons, clowns, prizes, concessions, treats and goodies. Bring your carved pumpkin at 5:30 p.m. to the pumpkin carving contest table to be judged. There will be a pie-eating contest too! It's fun for the entire family and for every age!
Start creating costumes for your family to show off at the costume contest! The costume contest will be separated by age groups, including an adult category. Prizes will be given for the most creative and unique costumes.
Free treat bags will be available at the information table during the event.

Calling all goblins, ghouls and ghosts to the City of Tempe’s 27th Annual Family Halloween Carnival offered as a safe alternative to trick or treating. A haunting good time will be had by all with entertainment, a costume contests for witches and warlocks of all age’s food booths, face painting and carnival games which are operated by local civic groups as a fundraiser. Tickets can be purchased for the carnival games at 25-cents each. (Please note: Some groups may charge more than one ticket per item).
