Queen Creek is a town located in Maricopa County, Arizona. According to U.S. Census figures, the Town of Queen Creek’s population was 4,316 at the end of April 2000. Based on new single family residential building permits issued, Community Development Director John Kross estimates that the current population is 8,200 as of October 2003.
Geography
Queen Creek is located at 33°14’26″ North, 111°38’36″ West (33.240494, -111.643404)1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 66.8 km² (25.8 mi²). 66.8 km² (25.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 4,316 people, 1,218 households, and 1,074 families residing in the town. The population density is 64.6/km² (167.3/mi²). There are 1,281 housing units at an average density of 19.2/km² (49.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 82.14% White, 0.35% Black or African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 14.30% from other races, and 2.29% from two or more races. 29.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,218 households out of which 50.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.9% are married couples living together, 7.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 11.8% are non-families. 8.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.54 and the average family size is 3.77.
In the town the population is spread out with 35.4% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 4.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 104.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 105.3 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $63,702, and the median income for a family is $65,679. Males have a median income of $45,000 versus $31,447 for females. The per capita income for the town is $21,592. 9.2% of the population and 6.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 10.0% are under the age of 18 and 6.5% are 65 or older.
