Burn Victims from Phoenix Sister City in Canada to Attend Camp Courage in Prescott
June 18 , 2005 by Kathleen GordenFour children from Phoenix’s sister city in Calgary, Canada, who have survived serious burns will be among 100 participants at the annual Arizona Burn and Trauma Foundation’s Camp Courage in Prescott from June 20 to 26, 2005.
The camp itinerary includes horseback riding, swimming, fishing, water skiing, scuba diving, hiking, crafts and more.
The Phoenix Sister Cities Commission has been selected to provide participants to the camp for the third consecutive year. The Calgary children will be participating as guests invited by the Commission.
The children’s medical needs will be taken care of by a team of doctors, nurses, physical therapists and paramedics. Counseling also will be available, with firefighters and adult survivors on hand for needed services.
All camp expenses will be covered through the sponsorship of the Foundation for Burns and Trauma, Inc. In addition, PETsMART will provide funds to help the kids with their airfare.
