Scottsdale to Review Rezone Request of Site for ASU Scottsdale Center for New Technology and Innovation

June 17 , 2005 by Kathleen GordenThe Scottsdale City Council on Tuesday, June 21, will review a request to rezone the site for the ASU Scottsdale Center for New Technology and Innovation.  The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.

The city has proposed rezoning the site to a Planned Community Development category that would allow mixed office and retail uses. It is the former site of the Los Arcos Mall and is currently zoned for commercial use.

The Planning Commission on June 15 unanimously recommended approval of the rezoning.  The Development Review Board on June 9 also unanimously recommended approval of amended development standards for the site.

Additional information on the zoning case is available at: City of Scottsdale

The city anticipates that the phase one site plan and design will be scheduled for formal review in late August 2005. It is expected that work on infrastructure at the site will begin at the end of 2005. Construction of buildings is anticipated to start in the 1st quarter of 2006. The site developer is expecting to construct between 250,000 and 300,000 square feet in the first phase. Plans call for the total project to comprise about 1.2 million square feet when complete.
