Special Oscars Red Carpet Coverage for Academy Awards® Ceremony

Phoenix Arizona Area Resident Ashley Tang Chosen as Oscars Red Carpet Special Correspondent for Good Morning America

Glendale, Arizona resident Ashley Tang, an 18-year-old Apollo High School  senior has been chosen by Good Morning America to work on assigment as a special correspondent for the red carpet at the 77th Annual Academy Awards® ceremony.

The Good Morning America show anchor, Diane Sawyer, surprised Ashley by telling her that she will be a red-carpet correspondent at the annual Academy Awards. The crew will give her a celebrity makeover and outfit her with a gown for the event.  Her evening at the Academy Awards will be featured on the Good Morning America show on Monday.

Ashley is a scholastic acheiver who lost both of her parents.  Her mother died when she was young and her father passed away when Ashley was 15.  Ashley's older siblings were away in college but her support system was nearby, so Ashley chose to stay put and focus on school.

Ashley will receive the Achievement Above All award by her Apollo High School principal at the Glendale Union High School District board meeting. She has plans to attend the University of Arizona and has her sights on becoming a doctor.

As told to Good Morning America, "Sometimes I cry just thinking about my parents and wishing they were here.  Just knowing that my parents won't be at my graduation. They won't be at my wedding if I get married."
