Craniofacial Foundation of Arizona Hopes for Dramatic Impact with 'Night on Broadway' Fundraiser
April 01 , 2008 by EditorPhoenix - The Craniofacial Foundation of Arizona (CFA) has set the stage for "A Night on Broadway," its seventh annual fundraising event and silent auction, which will benefit children living with craniofacial disorders. The gala affair will take place this year on Saturday, April 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Hotel Valley Ho, 6850 E. Main St., in Scottsdale.
As in past years, funds raised will be directed to the CFA's Patient Assistance Fund; its family support network, 'Happy Faces;' and its educational program, 'Unwrapping the Package.' Admission is $135 per person, and dress for the event will be cocktail attire.
"Much like an opening night of a Broadway show, our program promises to be an event to remember," says Gretchen Perry, CFA executive director. "We expect to have plenty of fun with great food, a live band and the silent auction, but knowing we're doing it to make children's lives better adds meaning to the excitement."
Perry notes that insurance companies routinely consider craniofacial surgery as an elective, cosmetic procedure and thus deny coverage to families - even for children born with severe deformities, such as missing ears. "These surgeries can be quite expensive," she said, "and often involve the parents traveling and staying in hotels for weeks at a time, for follow-up appointments with surgeons. Our annual fundraiser steers financial support directly to the families, so they can give their children the help they need."
Last year's James Bond-themed event was a sold-out success. Organizers hope to sell all 300 tickets to this year's event as well. Sponsorship opportunities and information on the silent auction can be obtained on the Craniofacial Foundation of Arizona Website, www.AzCranio.com, or by calling 480-753-1800.
