Steven Wright named City of Mesa Public Information Director
December 04 , 2006 by EditorThe City of Mesa announced today that after a nationwide search Steven Wright has been selected as the new Public Information Director.
Wright will begin serving as Director on Jan.22.
Wright has extensive background in community relations, communications, project management, research and analysis activities. In his current position as the Director of Community Relations for the City of Reno, Nev. he oversees all public information and media relations, working with print, television and radio outlets. In addition, he has helped to develop, implement and administer public affairs and outreach programs for over 200,000 residents and thousands of businesses in Washoe County.
Wright has called the Valley of the Sun his home several times throughout his career, working both with Cox Communications and the Arizona Board of Medical Examiners.
“Steven brings with him proven experience and expertise in community relations and public information initiatives,” said City Manager Chris Brady. “We are thrilled to have him join our team.”
Wright has a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational Psychology and Sociology from Southern Utah University, and a Master’s of Public Administration from Arizona State University. He is an active member of the Public Relations Society of America, the American Marketing Association, and the City-County Communication and Marketing Association (3CMA). Wright also serves on the 3CMA National Board of Directors, and as Vice President of PRSA, Sierra Nevada Chapter.
