Health for a Lifetime Series Continues at Phoenix Public Library
August 24 , 2006 by Kathleen GordenThe Health for a Lifetime series featuring medical experts from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center continues in September at Phoenix city libraries. The free workshops will cover parenting, child development, women’s health, avian bird flu and other topics. Here is the schedule:
- Sept. 14 – “Parents Again: Grandparents Raising their Grandchildren,” 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Burton Barr Central Library, 1221 N. Central Ave. Presented by Dr. Serena Woods-Grimm, a second-year resident at St. Joseph’s.
- Sept. 18 – “Diaper Free Before Age Three,” 1 to 2 p.m. Ironwood Library, 4333 E. Chandler Blvd. Presented by Dr. Jill Lekovic, a pediatrician at St. Joseph’s. Lekovic’s book on the topic will be available for purchase following the program.
- Sept. 21 – “Measuring the Milestones in Your Child’s Development,” 7 to 8 p.m. Desert Broom Library, 29710 N. Cave Creek Road. Presented by Dr. Robin Blitz, associate director of the Arizona Children’s Study Center, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, at St. Joseph’s.
- Sept. 27 – “The Top Three Health Concerns for Women,” 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saguaro Library, 2808 N. 46th St. Presented by Deidre Colao, a registered nurse with St. Joseph’s Center for Thoracic Disease, and Dr. Emily Zaragoza-Lao of the hospital’s Department of Family Medicine.
- Sept. 28 – “Avian (Bird) Flu: What You Need to Know,” 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Yucca Library, 5648 N. 15th Ave. Presented by Dr. Richard Blinkhorn, an infectious disease specialist and academic chairman of St. Joseph’s Department of Internal Medicine.
