Agnes Oblas

While many people believe only a doctor can be a primary care provider (PCP), Agnes Oblas, RN, CS, MSN, a Nurse Practitioner (NP), has made it her mission to show that this does not need to be. In November of 2001, she formed a legal entity called New Paths to Healthcare, LLC and proceeded to open her office as an independent nurse practitioner providing primary care to the residents of the Ahwatukee/Foothills and Chandler areas.
With her 25 years’ experience as a nurse practitioner Agnes has become quite proficient in treating common illnesses and managing stable medical problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes. She has also become adept at providing screening exams and other health maintenance and health education protocols. Although she was always employed in a physician managed practice, she typically maintained her own caseload, consulting with her physician colleagues when necessary or consulting with specialists when the need arose. For all intents and purposes, Agnes had been practicing independently for years.
The difference now with her own practice, is that she is not constrained to answer to “bottom line” issues of a medical/business practice; having her own practice gives her the freedom to devote as much time to each patient as she sees fit. She does not rush through office visits, she answers all her own phone messages, she follows through with referrals to assure completeness and continuity of care and she has the time to teach each patient as much as they want to know, even researching answers to more difficult questions.
