I'm a I.C procurment buyer for a company in Huntsville, AL, Sanmina-Sci Corporation. We recently had a shortage on Obselete I.C chips, which I had a hard time sourcing, I reached a number of distributors, brokers . . no luck. I was fortunate enough to have an engineer whom had dealt with this company in his prior job, and only had great things to say about them. I contacted their sales staff (Jerry) and within a short period of time they were able to provide a fair price with a short lead time, the best thing about all this, is they actually did what they said they were going to do.
