Every time the Sun goes into Libra I silently whisper, “Thank you God,” because from late September until October 22nd we all get to be more even-handed and fair-minded because if we don’t someone will come along to bite the hand that feeds them. Libra tells us to look at both sides of an issue and then put it to a vote. I would like to see all the Tea Party people come to the table and stop the rhetoric of division and destruction and find solutions rather than continue to be a jabberwocky of senseless nonsense. We will all have our chance to right the furniture and find the silver living in the firmament when Jupiter goes direct on October 12th at 17 degrees of Aquarius.

Mercury will go direct on September 30th—Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Say what you will about all the lessons we can learn with the review Mercury retrograde is here to teach us, but for me and my gray matter, I am looking for the benefits of Jupiter.

There is a Harvest Full Moon on Saturday, October 3rd at 11 degrees of Aries—which means that Fire Signs and Air Signs will benefit greatly. There will be a New Moon on Saturday, October 17th at 24 degrees of Libra, which again will benefit all Fire and Air Signs. A close friend of mine is getting married on October 3rd so the benefit of the Full Moon to him and his bride not only says the wait is over but the new life for them begins.

For the early birds, Saturn is going to move into the sign of Libra on October 12th, which will give mutable signs, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces and Gemini a break from the tough lessons Libra brings to us.

For those of you in a trial and error partnerships, whether a marriage, a love affair or a business alliance, this 30-day cycle is a “make or break” time. What needs to be finished will be and what can flourish will.

If you’ve seen “Mad Hot Ballroom” or “Take the Lead” with Antonio Banderas, then you’re familiar with Pierre Dulaine’s story.  Dulaine is a renown ballroom dancer who will be at Jefferson Elementary School, 120 S. Jefferson Ave., on Monday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., to teach fifth graders the course Dancing Classrooms.

Dancing Classrooms was developed by Dulaine in 2006 in New York City.   Dulaine utilized ballroom dancing to reach inner-city students and helped them regain their sense of pride, self-respect, and elegance.  Since then Dancing Classrooms has spread throughout the U.S. and Canada serving more than 40,500 students.

“We are very excited to have Pierre Dulaine demonstrate Dancing Classrooms” Mesa Public School Elementary Physical Education Coordinator Deb Pangrazi said.   “Dulaine is a gifted teacher and Mesa is very
fortunate be the first city in Arizona to offer this course for its students.”

“With extra curricula activities being cut in our schools, it’s hard to keep children active” Mesa Parks, Recreation and Commercial Facilities Recreation Supervisor Cindy Hunt said.  “We’re hoping this will be an=
other great addition to our after-school programs.”

Dancing Classrooms is a project of American Ballroom Theater (ABrT), a not for-profit group that builds social awareness, confidence and self-esteem in children through the practice of social dance.   For more information

About Pierre Dulaine
Pierre Dulaine was born in Jaffa, Palestine in 1944. His Irish father was serving with the British Army stationed in Palestine; his mother is part Palestinian and part French. By the time Pierre was 18 he took his
Associate Degree as a professional dancer. And at 21, he took his three majors exams in Ballroom, Latin and Olde Tyme all in one day, a feat that had not been accomplished before.

With this early success under his belt, Pierre soon went on to twice win the “Duel of the Giants” at the Royal Albert Hall in London and captured the “All England Professional Latin American Championship”. In 1971
Pierre worked as a solo dancer at the famous Talk of the Town in London’s West End.  Pierre next went to Nairobi, Kenya and worked in Cabaret with the world renowned Bluebell Troupe from Paris at the Nairobi Casino for a year. Finally, Pierre signed on as a cruise director on a ship sailing out of New York City to the Caribbean Islands. In 1972, Pierre started teaching at an Arthur Murray dance studio and has been in New York ever since.

In 1984, Pierre and Yvonne Marceau started the American Ballroom Theater Company. They made their company debut at the Dance Theatre Workshop in October 1984 and in March 1986 did a two-week engagement at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. After that start, their company traveled all over the US, Europe and Asia.  In July 1989 Pierre and Yvonne joined the workshop for Tommy Tune’s Broadway show Grand Hotel and danced on Broadway for two and-a-half years, finishing with a five month run in London’s West End.

Pierre has been called a “Dancer and Teacher extraordinaire” by the New York Times and (with Yvonne) has received the Astaire Award for “Best Dancing on Broadway” in Grand Hotel.  He has been a faculty member of both the School of American Ballet and the Juilliard School.

Rose and Barb

Two 90-year-old women, Rose and Barb had been friends all of their lives.

When it was clear that Rose was dying, Barb visited her every day.

One day Barb said, ‘Rose, we both loved playing women’s softball all our lives, and we played all through High School. Please do me one favor: when you get to Heaven, somehow you must let me know if there’s women’s softball there.’

Rose looked up at Barb from her deathbed and said, ‘Barb, you’ve been my best friend for many years. If it’s at all possible, I’ll do this favor for you.’

Shortly after that, Rose passed on.

A few nights later, Barb was awakened from a sound sleep by a blinding flash of white light and a voice calling out to her, ‘Barb, Barb.’

‘Who is it?’, asked Barb, sitting up suddenly. ‘Who is it?’

‘Barb — it’s me, Rose.’

‘You’re not Rose. Rose just died.’

‘I’m telling you, it’s me, Rose,’ insisted the voice.

‘Rose! Where are you?’

‘In Heaven,’ replied Rose. ‘I have some really good news and a little bad news.’

‘Tell me the good news first,’ said Barb.

‘The good news,’ Rose said, ‘is that there’s softball in Heaven. Better yet all of our old buddies who died before us are here, too.. Better than that, we’re all young again. Better still, it’s always springtime, and it never rains or snows. And best of all, we can play softball all we want, and we never get tired.’

‘That’s fantastic,’ said Barb. ‘It’s beyond my wildest dreams! So what’s the bad news?’

‘You’re pitching Tuesday.’
