SBA Administrator Karen Mills to Address National Press Club

WASHINGTON, D.C. – SBA Administrator Karen Mills will speak at a National Press Club luncheon, Monday, Dec. 14.  Mills’ speech, “Building Businesses, Creating Jobs, and Strengthening our Economy,” will highlight the Obama administration’s efforts to ensure that small businesses have the resources they need to continue to drive economic growth and create jobs.

The nation’s largest single financial backer of small businesses, the SBA has supported more than $16 billion in lending under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  The agency has also taken a lead role in helping small businesses compete for federal government contracts.  As a result, small businesses have been awarded almost $4.8 billion in Recovery Act contracts so far.  Through its affiliated counseling and training programs, the SBA provides technical assistance and advice to more than one million entrepreneurs every year.
