Ethnobotony (Traditional Use of Plants)
Wednesday, March 18, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Environmental Education Center. Take a guided tour around Veterans Oasis Park to learn the many uses of desert plants. The tour will be followed by an informational discussion and a tasting session in which participants will get to sample some of the desert’s tasty and nourishing delights! The class fee is $15. Land Navigation with a Map and Compass (basic)
Saturday, March 21, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Environmental Education Center.
GPS technology is great, but every outdoor enthusiast should know how to find their way using just a map and compass. This class is perfect for hikers, campers, hunters, anglers, and anybody who loves to get outside! Navigation skills aren’t just useful; they’re fun, too! Class fee is $28. Arizona Travel Series: Jerome, Arizona
Join us on an exciting tour of the Historic Homes in Jerome on Saturday, May 16. Stops along the way include Phelps Dodge Administrative Office, a classic Victorian house, a 1904 cottage, the authentic Gypsy Wagon, the lovely and haunting Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Ladies Jail, and more. The tour ends with refreshments at Jerome’s famous ‘Spook Hall’. The excursion includes coach bus transportation and tour admission. The trip is offered to anyone age 7 or older.
