Do your part to prevent auto theft…join us for the 5th Annual Kickoff Event for Arizona’s Vehicle Theft Prevention Day
Thursday, March 2009
10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.
In Arizona a vehicle theft occurs every 11 minutes and 07 seconds. In 2007, there were 48,389 motor vehicle thefts reported to Arizona law enforcement agencies at a cost of $346,801,091. We want to help keep you from becoming a victim of auto theft.
On Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the Arizona Auto Theft Authority and the Arizona State Capitol Police, with the support and sponsorship of the Phoenix Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety and the MasterLock Company, will be sponsoring the 5th Annual Kickoff Event for Arizona’s Vehicle Theft Prevention Day (March 7th). This kickoff event will be located on 17th Avenue between Jefferson and Adams, in Phoenix, (in front of the Arizona State House of Representatives and Senate buildings).
The event will allow government employees and any other interested citizens to get involved in some great prevention programs, learn more about auto theft prevention and receive free auto theft prevention tools. The event features:
- FREE Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) window etching: (a highly effective deterrent to stop the professional auto thief who desires to steal your vehicle and strip it for parts).
- FREE auto theft prevention devices (steering wheel locks).
- FREE prevention information to protect your vehicle (including membership in the highly effective “Watch Your Car” program).
There will also be a Kickoff Event at the Tucson State Facility, 400 W. Congress, Tucson on Thursday, March 5th, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Last year the Auto Theft Prevention Event was a great success! There were 188 vehicles etched in Phoenix and 51 in Tucson. Additionally, 112 vehicles were enrolled in the Watch Your Car Program in Phoenix.
If you are unable to attend this special kickoff event, check out the Arizona Auto Theft Authority’s website at www.azwatchyourcar.com, go to the Events page for a complete listing of scheduled events planned for Vehicle Theft Prevention Day. The Arizona Auto Theft Authority’s website is also a great resource to learn more about auto theft prevention and how to protect yourself from becoming a victim.
