Greetings to everyone,
We are a National advocacy organization for the disabled. The name of our organization is Advocates for Disabled Americans, Veterans, Police, Firemen & Families, ADA VETs).We are based in New York, however, we provide services nationally. We provide services for all disabled, from birth to geriatrics. We ensure that the disabled receive all services that are due them. We have advocated for toddlers that needed Early Intervention services to receive Early Intervention, we have advocated for school aged children that need Spacial Ed to receive services due them. We are currenly assisting 911 first responders that have become disabled due to 911, receive benefits. We are expanding into other States and are beginning to target Arizona since we are launching a campaign to all States re: disability awareness. Our phones have been ringing off the wall due to the increase of the disabled due to the war in Afghanistan, Iraq, we honor and assist our troops, primarily. ADA VETs is looking to partner with other organizations, citizens, able-bodied and disabled, to increase the awareness of disability and assist those that are in need of assistance.
We are also a “policing” organization, i.e., Nursing homes, we protect the rights of the elderly. I, myself ,am disabled , (along with all of my chief officers), and founded this organization in 1983. I’ve been fighting this fight since then. Please contact us for assistance and partnership at 347-278-1824, 516-376-7567, or 516-292-1553. Our email is disabledpdfdny@aol.com Our website is currently down and under construction. We can also be reached by mail : ADA VETs 672 Dogwood Avenue #191 Franklin Square, New York 11010
Please remeber your rights under the constitution as a disabled individual are not negotiable.
ADA VETs is preparing to file one of the most important and largest lawsuits in the country, due to the wide spread discrimination that still exists in our country.
Our chief counsel, Eliot Bloom, joined our organization last year to continue the advocacy needed in this area, and to remove the barriers that exist for disabled Americans. ADVOCATES FOR DISABLED AMERICANS, VETERANS,
POLICE, FIREMEN & FAMILIES
MISSION STATEMENT:
ADA/VETS is a non profit organization which defends the rights
of qualified individuals, who were excluded from mainstream society
due to their disability. This includes the workplace, school, and
any accommodation afforded the non-disabled population of
American society.
ADA provides a variety of resources that assist the disabled individual
feel included in American Society, when by birth this individual was
born into a disability, or has become newly disabled due to recent
circumstances.
The goal of ADA/VETS is to achieve equal treatment for disabled
individuals from birth to death, fair and equal treatment and access
under the law. This organization has a moral and Christian obligation
to make available whatever assistance is needed.
ADA/VETS will attempt to secure the entitlement of Constitutional
provisions mandated by the Department of Justice-14th Amendment
the Constitution (Americans with Disabilities Act) for people with
disabilities.
As per 42 USC Sec. 12182(a):
(a) General rule No individual shall be discriminated against on
the basis of disability in the full and equal enjoyment of the goods,
services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations of any
place of public accommodation by any person who owns, leases
(or leases to), or operates a place of public accommodation.
ADA/VETS realizes that the discrimination and/or the lack of
accommodation of disabled individuals still exists. The organization
has generated a network from state to state to ultimately guarantee
equality where disability is concerned. ADA/VETS will do this by
inclusion of other disabled Americans joining the network doing
what they can for other disabled Americans in whatever capacity
they are able.
ADA/VETS was established by Darren Aquino, a disabled American,
who began this fight in 1983, since inclusion was denied him. The
Americans with Disabilities Act, prohibits discrimination of any kind
to people with disabilities. The intent of the founder is to mainstream
disabled individuals, such as himself, to function in society without
barriers due to the disability.
The organization will assist to lessen the strain of demands that are
placed upon disabled Americans, making available every possible
resource to qualified disabled individuals who want nothing more
than to live their lives in a productive manner.
ADA/VETS’ goal is to include all, and proceed with what it is
empowered to do on behalf of the disabled: to search and find
needed resources, to advocate and protect the rights of the disabled
on a nationwide basis.
There are no age limits with ADA/VETS. There is only one criteria to
receive goods and services from ADA/VETS: that the individual be a
qualified disabled person with a temporary or permanent disability.
ADA/VETS has high Christian moral values, and believes that by
His Grace, we can overcome the obstacles incurred with disabilities.
Categories in which ADA/VETS has already established a record
of success include, but are not limited to: defending/representing
and advocating in 911 cases, Social Security claims, Human
Resources, such as Welfare, Equal Housing, in some cases,
Emergency Housing where provided under law and expediting goods
and services provided by state and local government. ADA/VETS
has fought discrimination in courthouses, ensuring that there are
appropriate accommodations for the disabled. The organization
has won battles involving the lack of adequate care for disabled
children in Foster care.
ADA/VETS has advocated for families in the Board of Education mediation cases, where services have been, increased, expedited and rendered for school age children with disabilities. The organization is in constant communication with the
office of the President of the United States, state and local officials
holding each accountable. SAG (Screen Actor’s Guild)-ensuring that
disabled actors are provided employment opportunities and appropriate accommodations. ADA/VETS provides oversight and is the “watchdog”
of ADA Law ( Americans with Disabilities Act). The organization advocates
to ensure that the ADA is fully implemented into the disabled individual’s
lifestyle, so that the opportunity of what life has to offer is guaranteed,
as it is written in the Constitution-LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE
OF HAPPINESS FOR ALL.
ADA/VETS has developed activities for those who want to participate
in Christian activities such as outings, camps and functions. The
organization has provided access and inclusion in these activities for
adults, adolescents, teens and children. ADA/VETS works toward
educating the general public to realize that disabled individuals and
their families play a vital role in society.
