Phoenix Arizona Photography – DESERT BOTANICAL GARDEN DANCING CACTI PHOTO CONTEST
Amateur Photographers Could Win with Dancing Flora Images
Living in the desert we’ve all seen cacti and succulents that appear to be performing an interpretive dance, attempting to send a message, crawling toward a watering hole, or striking a peculiar pose. The Desert Botanical Garden is inviting Valley residents and visitors to participate in an amateur photography contest – Dancing Flora – that will capture some of these animated native desert plants on film. A selection of photos will be featured as part of the grand opening celebration of the Garden’s new Sybil B. Harrington Cactus and Succulent Galleries on April 5.
A panel of professional photographers associated with the Garden will judge entries. Photos will be evaluated based on satisfaction of categorical criteria, including artistic composition, use of lighting, unique subject matter and/or ability to tell a story through the image.
The first place and honorable mention winners will be announced Friday, April 4. The grand prize package will include:
A four pack of tickets to a Garden event of the winner’s choice – Agave on the Rocks, Jazz in the Garden, Las Noches de las Luminarias and Corks & Cactus.
Publication of the winning photo in the Garden’s newsletter – Sonoran Quarterly
