Restless Leg Syndrome
July 12 , 2004 by Agnes OblasQuestion:
I’ve been getting deep muscle pains in my legs that only occur at night after I’ve lain down in bed to go to sleep. The only thing that helps is to jump up to walk around a bit or massage the muscles. Is this the restless leg syndrome I’ve heard about?
Answer:
It sounds like it. Restless Leg Syndrome or RLS can be very uncomfortable and even very painful. Unfortunately, even though many, many people suffer from it, medical science is undecided as to the exact cause or causes. If you’ve never told your provider that you experience this problem, make an appointment to discuss it. Certain vitamin and /or mineral deficiencies or anemia might be at the root of the symptoms and a complete medical and neurological exam is in order to make sure nothing else is going on.
