Hospital to also dedicate new Chapel/Retreat for patients, visitors and staff
Mesa, Ariz. – Mountain Vista Medical Center (MVMC) will celebrate three years of service on July 23, 2010. In just a short amount of time, the East Valley has welcomed MVMC to its growing community. Today, the 178-bed, full-service hospital has more than 400 physicians on staff and more than 800 employees. Focused on providing the highest quality care to patients with a focus on service, MVMC has expanded to continue to meet the needs of the community.

State-of-the-art technology:
- MVMC was the first in the state to install the CARTO 3® System, the most advanced technology available to improve diagnosis and treatment for cardiac patients.
- PET/CT scanner – used to evaluate brain abnormalities such as tumors, memory disorders (dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease) and seizures, and to help in the detection and staging of cancer.
- da Vinci® Surgical System – minimally invasive surgery option for a variety of procedures.
- Electronic barcode scanning.
- Electronic medical records.
- Translation technology available for patients with limited English proficiency and for those who are hearing impaired.
- Electronic Surgery Status Board – provides family members with a real-time status of their loved ones who are in surgery.
Growth facts:
- November 2008: a five-story medical office building adjacent to the hospital opened and includes more than 30 physician offices representing a variety of specialties and health services.
- January 2010: added two additional rooms in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
- June 2010: two additional operating rooms were added, bringing the OR count to 10.
- The Comprehensive Orthopedic and Spine Center at Mountain Vista Medical Center – grand opening is slated for September 2010.
- The City of Mesa has a population of more than 450,000 people and is the third-largest city in Arizona. The anticipated population growth of Mesa is estimated to grow by 62 percent during the next 25 years.
Community involvement:
- Partner with Midwestern University to offer medical student clinical education program.
- Free community seminars covering a variety of health topics (5-6 per month).
- SeniorAdvantage program designed for individuals 55+. With more than 1,500 members, this program offers health education, support groups, medication checks, cafeteria discounts and a special VIP program (Very Important Patient).
- A combined effort from our SeniorAdvantage members and volunteers provide our patients with homemade blankets, greeting cards, bookmarks, get well soon magnets and much more during their stay.
- Participating in United Food Bank’s Christmas in July food drive.
