More than $50,000 will be re-directed to waiting list applicants
(Phoenix, AZ) – Some Arizonans on the Appliance Rebate program waiting list are sure to secure their rebate. More than $50,000 is being applied back into the rebates as a result of how quickly the reservations were made.
“Arizona’s program lasted just over three and a-half hours, which resulted in some significant savings on operations staffing,” said Grady Bailey, Senior Director of the Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office. “We’re excited to be able to pass the savings on to Arizonans who are on the waiting list, especially considering some of the great values and other incentives surrounding Earth Day.”
The State’s $6.2 million appliance rebate program, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, launched at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2010 with incredible volume. At 9:38 a.m. all rebate reservations had been made, and only the wait list for clothes washers was still open.
Applicants on the waiting list must purchase and send in documentation, then the funding is awarded on a “first to submit” basis. The rebates only apply to purchases of qualified Energy Star clothes washers, dishwashers, and water heaters. Complete guidelines are available at http://www.arizonarebates.com/.
Appliance manufacturers and retailers plan sales to coincide with Earth Day (April 22). In addition, incentives are also available from the following resources:
- Salt River Project rebates: www.savewithsrp.com/ (click on efficient appliances link) or call 602-236-2075
- Southwest Gas rebates: www.swgas.com/resmkt/specialoffers/index.php
- City of Chandler rebates: www.chandleraz.gov/water or call 480-782-3580
The available programs in the State are designed to help consumers make the switch to Energy Star appliances which are generally 15-50 percent more efficient than standard appliances.
