Phoenix Children’s Hospital Adds Three Hematology/Oncology Specialists to the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders

(PHOENIX, Ariz.) – Phoenix Children’s Hospital announces the addition of three pediatric hematology/oncology specialists. Doctors Jim Williams, Sanjay Shah, and Meenakshi Goyal-Khemka  are joining the hospital’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.

The physicians are transitioning from an East Valley hospital to Phoenix Children’s within the next few months.  Most important for their existing patients, Williams, Shah, and Goyal-Khemka will maintain their close ties to the East Valley by offering extensive service hours in Phoenix Children’s Specialty and Urgent Care – East Valley Center at Southern Avenue and Higley  Road in Mesa.

“We look forward to joining the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Medical group and providing a broader range of services for East Valley children and their families,” said Williams.

Williams is a solid tumor expert has served as a lead in the Children’s Oncology Group’s sarcoma program; Shah is an expert in bleeding disorders; and Goyal-Khemka has helped build several new pediatric hematology/oncology practices.

“As we continue our efforts to expand oncology services at Phoenix Children’s, we‘re proud to bring on board respected physicians like Drs. Williams, Shah and Goyal-Khemka and offer a level of talent unmatched in Arizona,” says Robert Meyer, president and CEO of the Hospital. Meyer added that with the new additions a focus of the Center will be developing new collaborations, and expanding research programs.

The new physicians are working closely with Phoenix Children’s operations staff to ensure continuity of care for their patients and to accommodate the expected increase in patient load at Phoenix Children’s. Williams, Shah, and Goyal-Khemka will also see patients at Phoenix Children’s main campus on Thomas Road.

“This expansion of hematology and oncology services firmly establishes Phoenix Children’s Hospital as the leader in caring for children with blood and cancer disorders in the greater Phoenix area, and as one of the largest, most wide-ranging programs in the nation,” said Williams.
