Pueblo Grande Museum Earns Honor from American Museum Association

Phoenix Museum Earns Rare Distinction

Phoenix, AZ – Phoenix’s Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park has, for the second time, earned a rare distinction from the American Association of Museums. The Association recently renewed Pueblo Grande Museum’s Accreditation, an honor earned by less than 5 percent of the 17,500 museums in the United States.

The honor from the Association recognizes Pueblo Grande Museum’s success in achieving its mission and goals as well as using best practices and meeting or exceeding museum standards. The museum first earned accreditation in 1999.

Pueblo Grande Museum is located at the site of a 1,500 year-old Hohokam village. For over 80 years the museum has been dedicated to the study and interpretation of the Hohokam culture. On the 95 acre park grounds, visitors explore the ruin of an 800 year-old platform mound, an excavated ballcourt, and full-scale reproductions of prehistoric Hohokam homes in addition to visiting an award winning museum with three exhibit galleries.
