Tempe invites public to follow city on Twitter

Tempe, Arizona – Tempe invites community members to connect with the city on Twitter and join the more than 1,000 people who get Tempe news and information via this popular social media tool.

In its seven-month-old social media effort, Tempe has cultivated a growing online community of people who want city news and information via these new tools. As of today, 1,010 people follow tempegov on Twitter and 365 are fans of the city on Facebook. The city also posts Tempe 11 videos on YouTube, which are viewed daily by people here and around the world.

Tempe’s social media effort is in its infancy and is growing every day. But it’s not just about the numbers for Tempe. The city strives to post frequent, relevant updates through all its social media tools. The goal is to provide both the useful information our stakeholders need and the lighthearted details that paint a picture of life in Tempe. These social media tools provide the city a cost effective way of communicating with our residents, businesses, students, visitors, commuters and others.

Tempe hopes you will join the conversation and get involved. For access to all of the tools Tempe uses to communicate with its many stakeholders – both social media and more traditional means – visit www.tempe.gov/newsroom. There you’ll find links to the city’s presence on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, as well as ways to sign up for e-mail updates.
