The 52nd Street Jazz Band comes to ASU Kerr Cultural Center

52nd Street Jazz Band to Perform Jazz Dance/History Show at ASU Kerr Cultural Center
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The 52nd Street Jazz Band will perform at Arizona State University Kerr Cultural Center on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. The ASU Kerr Cultural Center is located on Rose Lane, north of Scottsdale Road and McDonald Drive. Tickets are $15 and children, students, senior and group rates are available. Please call the box office at 480-596-2660 for more information.
Join us to discuss the highlights of jazz history from 1900 to 1940. There will be examples of jazz music and dances developed throughout these years. The dances include the Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag and the Lindy Hop.
This Jazz/Dance History show is co-presented with the Arizona Classical Jazz Society. The Arizona Classic Jazz Society was formed in 1984. Its purpose is to promote and perpetuate interest in traditional jazz and support the musicians who perform the music. The Society sponsors the Arizona Classic Jazz Festival every year in November at the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona. ACJS holds regular monthly jazz parties featuring live music on the fourth Sunday afternoon of the month. Membership is open to any person interested in enjoying our activities and supporting the aims and objectives of ACJS.

Kerr’s box office is open weekdays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Saturdays 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and one hour prior to ticketed events. The ASU Kerr Cultural Center is located at 6110 N. Scottsdale Rd., which is off Rose Lane, west of Scottsdale Road, directly south of the Borgata of Scottsdale. Tickets can also be purchased at ASU Gammage and through any Ticketmaster outlet.
