Enjoy an afternoon of free, family activities at Tempe Town Lake Turns 10 Celebration December 12th
TEMPE, Ariz. – Party guests at the Tempe Town Lake Turns 10 celebration on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Tempe Beach Park will enjoy an afternoon filled with fun, free, family-oriented activities provided by Tempe Parks and Recreation and Tempe Cultural Services.
In lieu of traditional party games, attendees can sample kayaking and erg fitness, two of the many Parks and Recreation programs offered annually at Tempe Town Lake. Kids and adults can also test their quarterback skills in a football toss. For those interested in signing up for Tempe’s Winter 2010 recreational and cultural offerings, there will be a booth for easy and quick registration.
Cultural Services will lead a variety of lake-themed art projects for children, including crafting “birch bark” canoes out of cardboard to float in the bathtub or backyard pool, decorating paper plates to make colorful fish and folding newspaper sailor hats.
Tempe Town Lake Turns 10 begins at 3 p.m. Kayaking will start an hour early at 2 p.m. to accommodate more guests. Individuals interested in kayaking should come to the docks on the south side of the lake, just west of the Mill Avenue bridge.
