Dr. Elsner, Chancellor Emeritus of MCCD, to examine all facets of well-being at GateWay on Dec. 2
PHOENIX, Arizona – In these challenging economic and social times, many people are having to reassess their priorities to rediscover what having a “balanced life” means to them. To address the idea of maintaining a balanced life in a changed world, Dr. Paul Elsner, Chancellor Emeritus of the Maricopa Community College District (MCCD), will be presenting his discussion Searching for Well-Being in America: The Paradox of Affluence. The interactive discussion will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2, in MA1100N/S in the main building of GateWay Community College, 108 N. 40th Street in Phoenix. The event is free and open to the public.
“For students just embarking on their careers in this challenging economic climate and for all of us who have revised life choices in light of recent events, Dr. Elsner’s lecture promises to provide opportunities for reflection on how we might thoughtfully craft new strategies for seeking balance and meaning in our academic, professional and personal lives,” said Dr. Lauren Yena, English faculty member and Honors Program Coordinator at GateWay.
Dr. Elsner’s presentation is part of a MCCD semester-long speaking series and is brought to GateWay by the college’s Honors Program and International Education Committee. Dr. Elsner is a noted educational leader, editor, international speaker and consultant, and served as MCCD Chancellor for 23 years. He is currently the senior advisor to the Center for Teaching and Learning at Mesa Community College.
