ASU Gammage and Little House on the Prairie the Musical Team with Habitat for Humanity

TEMPE – The cast and crew members from the national tour of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE THE MUSICAL starring Melissa Gilbert as “Ma” and the staff of ASU Gammage will participate in a home build for Habitat for Humanity.

LITTLE HOUSE is the uplifting story of an American family forging a new life amidst the mighty challenges, heartbreaks, joys and triumphs that face them in the newly-settled heartland. It is also the story of young Laura Ingalls, as she begins her life as a young woman, finding purpose, and finding love. Above all, it is the celebration of the pioneering spirit and the core values on which this country was founded – a spirit that still resonates today.

“We’re really pleased about LITTLE HOUSE’S ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity throughout the course of our national tour. It’s the perfect marriage between a show and an organization. LITTLE HOUSE is all about the importance of home. But more than that, it’s about the value of what home brings to all of us – not just as individuals but also as a community,” says actress Melissa Gilbert.

“Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona welcomes the support and volunteer efforts of the LITTLE HOUSE cast and crew. A home is the foundation of a family and this foundation is the central theme of the LITTLE HOUSE story,” commented Roger Schwierjohn, President/CEO of Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona.

The home the volunteers will be working on will be located at: Oro Vista Subdivision, 14th Street and Carson (16th Street, north of Baseline). Habitat is seeking LEED Silver Certificate on the homes, building on the subdivision began January 2009 and expected completion is December 2010.  When: Thursday, December 10, 9 a.m. to noon.
