Over 20 guitars donated by Ear Candy Charity give Wilson Elementary School students guitar program
Phoenix, AZ - Ear Candy Charity, a Phoenix based non-profit organization devoted to saving music education, announced today that it has added Wilson School District No. 7 to its growing list of impacted valley schools.
Ear Candy Charity has impacted over 2000 valley kids through in-school music instrument donation as well as after-school music programs with local partners. Over 20 guitars donated to Wilson Elementary School will be used to create and sustain an after-school program for its students to enjoy. The Wilson Guitar Club, as the program has been named, will impact 30 students each time the program begins. Students will have access to the guitars and instruction 4 days per week.
“Ear Candy is a prominent vehicle that is here for the community to use,” said Nathan Anderson, president and founder of Ear Candy Charity. “We’re bringing schools and organizations together for the greater good of music education. The guitar donation to Wilson Elementary, I’m happy to say, will create a whole new program for the kids; something they’ve never experienced before.”
Wilson School District teacher, Travis Kent, is eager to begin the program and see the positive impact that the guitar program will bring to the school and his students.
“Music is a very important part of my life. Music teaches us to work together, build positive relationships and can improve academic achievement,” said Kent.”The guitars Ear Candy Charity has provided to Wilson will give the students an opportunity to create music, work cooperatively and take ownership of their learning. I am very excited to share my love of music with these students.”
