Family event kicks off Scottsdale fire department’s holiday toy drive
Scottsdale, AZ – Scottsdale Fire Department invites residents to come enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast from 9-11:30 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, at Scottsdale Fire Station #1 (2857 N. Miller Road). The free family event will help kick-off the fire department’s annual holiday toy drive and benefit the Paiute Neighborhood Center.
“Year-round we work hard to serve the community. From responding to medical and fire emergencies to supporting youth and school programs, it is a part of our culture and hope that we can bring cheer to the lives of children and teens this holiday season” said Scottsdale Fire Captain Sasha Weller.
Donations are needed for ages 0-18 years. Some of this year’s “wish list” items include toys and clothing for children from newborn to age 3, hair accessories, makeup, curling irons, clothing, purses, DVD’s, electronics and sports apparel.
Scottsdale Fire Department’s annual toy drive to benefit the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots Program and Paiute Neighborhood Center begins Friday, Nov. 27, and will continue through Thursday, Dec. 24. Residents and community members are encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped toys at one of Scottsdale’s 14 fire stations or the Witzeman Public Safety Building (8401 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale).
Scottsdale Fire Stations are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, we encourage you to try to stop by between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Upon arrival, please ring the door bell or knock on the station door to alert the firefighters you are there to make a donation. If there is no answer, crews may be responding to an emergency call. It is not advised that you leave the toys by the door or in an unsecured area.
The Police & Fire Headquarters building located at Granite Reef & Indian School is staffed 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday – Friday. Donations can be dropped off in the main lobby located on the north side of the building facing Indian School Road.
