Banner Heart Hospital recognizes two with Guardian Award

MESA, Ariz. – Banner Heart Hospital awarded its prestigious Guardian Award to Dr. Jaskamal Kahlon and Margie Acosta during an awards evening on Friday, Nov. 13. The winners were recognized along with 27 other nominees during the hospital’s ninth annual event.

The Guardian award is given to those who show the virtues of wisdom, warmth, strength, integrity and gentleness. The award is made possible by donations from longtime Banner Heart friends Carol Den Herder and her daughter, Kristin Rezler. The award is in the memory of the Den Herders’ daughter, Ann.

Cardiologist Dr. Jaskamal Kahlon, was nominated for his “warmth, kindness and compassion towards physicians, staff, patients and families.” according to clinical director Kristen Richards.

Clinical Manager of CVOP’s, Margie Acosta “comes to work every day wanting to make a difference, not only in our patients’ lives but in the lives of everyone I come in lives of everyone I come in contact with,” she said.
