Mesa Mayor Scott Smith to debut as voice of Tubby the Tuba
Mesa, AZ – On Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2:30 pm at the Mesa Arts Center’s Ikeda Theater, Mesa Mayor Scott Smith will debut as the lead role in George Kleinsinger’s “Tubby the Tuba” performed by the Symphony of the Southwest. Children of all ages will enjoy an afternoon of classic music written specifically for young ears.
“My brother and I wore out our Tubby the Tuba record when we were kids,” Mayor Smith said. “I’m thrilled to be voicing him for the Symphony of the Southwest.”
The Symphony of the Southwest will also perform Camille Saint-Saens’s “Carnival of the Animals,” where each animal is introduced by an Ogden Nash poem and the Youth Symphony of the Southwest will perform Claude Debussy’s “Children’s Corner.”
Acclaimed pianists Walter Cosand and Robert Hamilton will be joining the Symphony of the Southwest for this special performance.
Tickets for this concert are $17 and can be purchased by calling the Mesa Arts Center box office at (480) 644-6500 or at http://www.mesaartscenter.com. For more information about the Youth Symphony of the Southwest and the Symphony of the Southwest go to http://symphonyofthesouthwest.org.
