Orthopedic Surgeons to Discuss Joint Pain, Hip and Knee Replacements

Free seminar on Joint Pain, Hip and Knee Replacements to be held at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center
Phoenix, AZ – Dr. Robert Berghoff and Dr. Michael Wilmink with Arizona Orthopaedic Associates will discuss new medical advances in hip and knee replacement surgeries this month at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Arizona Orthopaedic Associates was the first practice in the state of Arizona to implement the anterior hip replacement, a minimally invasive procedure that increases mobility and decreases recovery time.
The orthopedic surgeons will speak to the public during a one-hour session on Thursday, Nov. 19, at noon.
The Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center is located at 1111 E. McDowell Road in Phoenix. Those attending can park near the hospital’s main lobby on 12th Street just south of McDowell Road. Free valet service and structure parking are available. Cookies and soft drinks will be provided.
Hundreds of thousands of Americans each year receive hip replacements with many opting for the traditional approach, which requires up to three months of recovery. Dr. Berghoff, Dr. Wilmink and their partners at AOA can also perform the anterior hip replacement, which cuts recovery time down to a matter of weeks and has the patient walking the same day.
AOA surgeons have performed more than 450 of these procedures since first implementing the program four years ago. The procedure requires a state-of-the-art operating table that allows surgeons to work through the natural interval between the hip muscles, thereby reducing complications and recovery times.
“The anterior hip replacement procedure is a very viable option for people struggling with hip pain or osteoarthritis,” Dr. Berghoff said. “For those who are eligible for the surgery, it can make a world of difference.”
