Funds provided through $206,000 Department of Education library grant
PHOENIX - Ecademie Charter High School, which runs under the support of Goodwill of Central Arizona, will unveil its new library on Nov. 5 at its Phoenix campus to help foster a successful learning environment for its at-risk student population.
The library was made possible through a $206,000 grant from the Improving Literacy through School Libraries program run through the U.S. Department of Education. Ecademie was the only school in Arizona to receive such a grant. As part of the grant, the library will be open to the local communities on Saturdays.
As part of Goodwill’s commitment to the education and vocational advancement of central Arizonans, Ecademie helps at-risk youth obtain a solid educational foundation so they may move forward in becoming vocationally successful and self-sufficient. The library will provide an environment conducive to helping improve student literacy skills and academic achievement by providing access to up-to-date library materials as well as a well-equipped, technologically advanced school media center.
The public is welcome to attend the open house from 5-7 p.m. on November 5th. Ecademie Charter High School is located at 417 N. 16 Street in Phoenix. (Corner of Van Buren & 16th Street)
