Moscow Ballet Announces Return to Phoenix

2009 Great Russian Nutcracker Tour Tuesday, December 22

(Phoenix, AZ) – Enjoy the exquisite dancing, gorgeous costumes, and fanciful storytelling of the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker at Dodge Theatre Tuesday, December 22 at 7:30 p.m. The Nutcracker Ballet is an adaptation of “The Nutcracker and the King of Mice” by E.T.A. Hoffman about of a young girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a fierce battle against a Mouse King.

This years performance is especially distinctive for its unique setting of Act II in the “Land of Peace and Harmony” and for the introduction of a new character, a Christmas Dove. Also new this year is a fantasy clock with wings of an owl that cast a shadow over the battle between the Soldiers and the Mice.

Moscow Ballet features top graduates of the Perm, Vaganova, Moscow State Academic, and Kiev schools. Critics rave that the Great Russian Nutcracker is “flawless,” “breathtaking,” and “dazzling.” Whimsical and imaginative storytelling blend with the richness of Russian classical ballet to make the Great Russian Nutcracker a memorable holiday treat for everyone.
