PerfectPower to Hold Solar Seminar for Commercial Entities
Phoenix, AZ – On July 1, 2009, the US Treasury Department issued guidelines for $3.1 billion in new grants for business entities that pays for 30% of solar PV system costs. Applications will be accepted starting in August, 2009. These grants are a cash payment equal to 30% of the full system price within 65 days after the application is received and the system installation is complete.
There is so much interest in this grant opportunity, local solar PV provider PerfectPower, Inc. has decided to hold a series of seminars to show local business owners and managers how the grant and other incentives work as well as the benefits of a solar PV system. The first seminar is on August 19 at Xona Resorts in Scottsdale. The second is on August 20th at PerfectPower’s headquarters in Phoenix. There will additional solar seminars at Xona Resorts on September 17 and October 15.
Joe Cunningham, Director of Business Development for PerfectPower, Inc. says, “We have been waiting over 30 years for this type of incentive to help make solar PV affordable for businesses. There has never been a better time to buy a system.”
The 30% Treasury grant can be taken in lieu of the 30% tax credit, which is still available. The difference in receiving the full 30% benefit shortly after system installation versus waiting a year or more for the tax credit may be just what is needed to give many businesses the financial means to buy a solar PV system today. As a result of the 2009 Stimulus Bill, this grant was made available to help many businesses whose profits are down in current financial conditions.
Mike Pendergraft, President of Phoenix based American Valet states, “We looked into buying a solar PV system several months ago, but found that the cash required upfront was too much of a strain on the business. Now, we can bridge the gap between the time we pay for the system and the 60 days or so until we receive the grant.” American Valet plans to be one of the first Arizona businesses to apply for this grant.
The 30% US Treasury Grant is in addition to the utility rebates, accelerated 5.5 year depreciation and Arizona State tax credit. All together, these incentives can pay for 90% to 110% of the full system cost.
