announces its 2009-2010 season of Guest Artists

The ASU Kerr Cultural Center announces its 2009-2010 season of Guest Artists.  The artists, representing a variety of disciplines, hail from as close as Mesa to as far away as New York (see pages 2-4 of enclosed packet).  This year’s Guest Artists series will include “Connecting Communities”, as well as the return of some old favorites.  As part of Rhythms of Live (see page 4 of enclosed packet) guest performers will include Bob Clendenin and Margot Kidder.  Sunday @ Kerr (see page 5 of enclosed packet) will return co-presented with Arizona Classic Jazz Society with a wonderful jazz line-up.

Returning this season will also be Jazz in Concert, co-presented with Jazz in Arizona and Underwritten by The Jazzbird Foundation (see pages 5-6 of enclosed packet), including Dennis Rowland & the Extreme Decibel Big Band,, The Divas and Marion Meadows.

Known for its diverse programming, intimate setting, and excellent acoustics, ASU Kerr Cultural Center continues to be “Scottsdale’s Cultural Jewel” and the best venue in the Valley to hear and see the best local, regional, national and international artists.  In addition to presenting a wide variety of performers, Kerr also hosts revolving Visual Art exhibits, the free Coffee at Kerr Series, which is sponsored this year by Atlasta Catering (see page 7 of enclosed packet), and the Tuesday Morning Music & Tea Concert Series, in conjunction with the ASU School of Music, with tea and refreshments again being served compliments of Souvia (see page 8 of enclosed packet).

For further information or to receive a season brochure, call the ASU Kerr Cultural Center at (480) 596-2660.  Kerr’s box office is open weekdays between the hours of 10am-5pm, Saturday (January – April) 1-5pm and one hour prior to all ticketed events.  Student, senior and group rates are available for most events.  The Kerr Cultural Center, a facility of ASU Public Events, is handicapped accessible.

The intimate adobe studio is located at 6110 N. Scottsdale Rd., which is off Rose Lane, west of Scottsdale Road, directly south of the Borgata of Scottsdale. Tickets can also be purchased at ASU Gammage and through any Ticketmaster outlet.

Partial funding for Kerr’s 2009-2010 Season of Guest Artists is provided by the Arizona Commission on the Arts appropriations from the Arizona State Legislature and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.
