East Valley OB/GYN Prohibits Email

Drs. Goodman & Partridge OB/GYN “Conversation Fridays” Encourages Employees to Interact with one another One Day each Week

Chandler, Ariz.– On Fridays during the month of July employees of Drs. Goodman & Partridge OB/GYN will be prohibited from sending internal emails. The practice has taken many measures to setup this program they call “Conversation Fridays,” including template out-of-office replies in Microsoft Outlook, friendly reminders on Thursdays, and they even had custom t-shirts produced for employees at no charge. The ‘NO INTERNAL EMAIL’ rule is on the honor system but employees have been instructed to prompt each other not to send emails on Fridays should they accidentally send a message. The practice made it clear to the staff that external emails are acceptable and necessary for some job functions.

Drs. Goodman & Partridge OB/GYN is “Declaring Independence” from electronic communications so that they may find more effective ways to solve problems and interact with one another. “Emails can be misinterpreted and waste time, sometimes it is much faster and more direct to walk down the hallway and speak with a co-worker face to face” said Jason Ange, Contract Specialist for the practice. Employees rumbled at the thought of not being able to email each other to perform regular tasks but understood the concept behind “Conversation Fridays” and how it would help the practice find more efficiencies. “July’s Fridays will be an opportunity for us to refrain from internal emails and pick up the phone to talk to one another to get our jobs done” said Nick Goodman, Practice Administrator. Many companies have established programs like this as a way to synergize including VeriSign, US Cellular, and others.
