City of Phoenix Offering Back to School and Health Fair to Ease the Transition From Summer Break
Phoenix, AZ – The city of Phoenix is sponsoring the eighth annual “Back to School and Health Fair,” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at North High School, 1101 E. Thomas Rd.
Thanks to numerous sponsors, visitors to the Back-to-School and Health Fair can get free immunizations, physical and dental check-ups, and free backpacks for the first 1,000 participants.
Fair participants will be able to gather information from more than 40 informational booths on topics such as after school programs, domestic violence, education, finance, immigration, nutrition, and water safety. The Phoenix Suns also will be on hand with activities and kids’ games. A panel discussion about challenges affecting the surrounding community will cap off the event.
The event was made possible by the contributions of sponsors including APS, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Bank of America, PHX 11, Phoenix Union High School District, Telemundo, Univision Radios, Latino Vibe radio, La Prensa, La Voz, 12 News, and Water Mill Express.
The Back to School fair is produced by the city’s Latino Institute, an interdepartmental team whose mission is to promote healthy living, safe communities, and education and understanding of Latino Culture, its contributions to society and its challenges for the future.
