Innovative Summer Program Celebrates Success of 26 Young Adults

26 young adults to complete one of GateWay Community College’s extensive summer programs in June 25 ceremony

PHOENIX, Arizona – The GateWay Community College Summer Youth Entrepreneurial Education & Internship program is coming to a close.  The community is invited to attend the ceremony at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 25 at the Burton Barr Library Auditorium, 1221 N. Central Ave., Phoenix.

This year, the innovative summer program will be celebrating the success of 26 young adults. The students are a diverse group ranging from ages 16-23, including high school juniors, seniors, graduated, out of school, youth at risk, single parents, homeless and those helping to support their families. Over the course of only four weeks, each program participant has completed two business courses at GateWay for a total of five credit hours. Students have also written a business plan with their team and will be competing in a competition on the morning of the 25th. In addition, the students will have been working in a small business within Phoenix to gain work experience. Winners of the competition will be will be awarded scholarships to continue their education.

This program was made possible through a generous grant from the Phoenix Community Development Investment Corporation.  Additional partners include Arizona Call-A-Teen, the City of Phoenix CEDD & Workforce Connection and GateWay Community College.
