Tempe seeks community members to assist with 2010 U.S. Census
Tempe, AZ – City of Tempe community members are invited to assist the 2010 U.S. Census effort by serving on the city’s volunteer Complete Count Committee. Applications are accessible at http://tempe.gov/go/census and the deadline to apply is June 26.
Mayor Hugh Hallman will appoint committee members who represent all aspects of life in Tempe, including neighborhood representatives, seniors, faith-based groups, businesses, the homeless population, students, Spanish-speaking residents and others. Complete Count Committee members will meet monthly beginning in late summer through early 2010, to ensure that Tempe is fully promoting the value of the Census and ensuring that everyone is counted. You can have an impact on Tempe’s 2010 Census response rate!
Every year, $300 million in federal funds is distributed to U.S. communities based on population. The funds go toward things like Head Start programs, public transportation, road construction, programs for the elderly and more.
Find the Complete Count Committee application online at http://tempe.gov/go/census, fill it out and return it by e-mail, fax or in-person to the City of Tempe.
