The Bead Museum Seeks Public Support to Reach Sustainability Goal; Hosts Fundraiser May 28th

(Glendale, AZ) An international treasure in Glendale, The Bead Museum, must raise $20,000 to remain financially viable.  Mayor Elaine Scruggs and the museum’s board of directors will host a “no-frills” cocktail party to accomplish this goal on May 28th at the museum located at 5754 W. Glenn Drive from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“The Bead Museum is a key element of our downtown revitalization efforts.  If you’ve never visited, I know you’ll be impressed by the collection of anthropological and archeological beads and beaded artifacts,” said Glendale Mayor Elaine Scruggs, adding, “The Bead Museum’s Board of Directors has set a very modest goal of raising $20,000 in one night through ticket sales, donations, sponsorships and silent auction items.”  The Bead Museum has already raised $80,000 of the $100,000 they need to reach their first-stage sustainability goal. They need the public’s support to raise the remaining $20,000.

The Bead Museum is the only museum that showcases beads and beaded artifacts from around the world and is dedicated to the preservation and research of beads. Its collection, including spectacular anthropology and archeology exhibits, rivals collections contained at the Smithsonian and Peabody museums.  Artifacts at the museum date back 10,000 years. An extraordinary exhibit called the Tribal Adornment of Nagaland India-Beading Relating to Head Hunting is just one of the fascinating experiences visitors get to experience.
