SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Scottsdale Healthcare has launched a new free quarterly magazine to help parents keep their growing children healthy.
Scottsdale Kidz Konnection Magazine offers accurate information on medical topics, helpful tips on raising children and information on Scottsdale Healthcare’s pediatric services and programs.
Readers of the first issue will find practical advice on everything from encouraging healthy eating habits and addressing anxiety in children to detecting autism early and determining if a child is likely to smoke. Parents can learn about an increase of gallbladder disease in kids and signs to watch for, as well as grown-up health issues that children face, too.
The spring issue of Scottsdale Kidz Konnection also includes information on Scottsdale Healthcare’s KidShape program for warding off obesity, pediatric therapy services, children’s diabetes services and upcoming positive parenting class.
Parents can receive the quarterly magazine electronically or by mail by signing up at www.shc.org/kidz. Scottsdale Kidz Konnection also is available at the offices of pediatricians who are on Scottsdale Healthcare’s medical staff.
Scottsdale Kidz Konnection is part of Scottsdale Healthcare’s comprehensive pediatric services, which focus on providing quality healthcare in a child-friendly environment. Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center offers a designated kids’ ER and Kidz Klinic with pediatric specialists in general, orthopedic and urological surgery, developmental care and physical, occupational and speech therapy.
Additionally, a dedicated pediatric unit with a movie-theme décor is staffed by pediatric hospitalists and pediatric nurse practitioners, who provide care in collaboration with community pediatricians. Pediatric specialists in cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, endocrinology, orthopedics, oncology, urology, genetics, surgery and other areas are available.
Complementing its Family Birthing Center, Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center also offers a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, the highest level available.
