“We are thrilled to have the power of 12 News and their well-known news talent launch this new event on behalf of the kids Phoenix Children’s Hospital serves,” said Steve Schnall, Senior Vice President, Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Their long-standing commitment to our community makes them a perfect partner, along with their colleagues at momslikeme.com and KTAR.”

The event will run from 5am – 11pm on Thursday, May 7. 12 News will broadcast live from the hospital campus with Lin Sue Cooney and Mark Curtis as well as other 12 News talent. Donors can give by calling the live phone bank; going online to http://www.giveforkids.azcentral.com/; or, stopping by any Walgreen’s.  12 News coverage throughout the day will include interviews with patients, families, staff and community supporters; special guests; and, a fun fair for patients, former patients and their families.

“Give for Kids is a great addition to the community events we develop and support,” said John Misner, President and General Manager at 12 News.  “Phoenix Children’s Hospital and its future growth are very important to Arizona and are therefore important to the 12 News team. We are fortunate to have one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation right here in Phoenix to help the kids who need it most.”

This year’s Give for Kids will focus on many of the miracle stories happening each day at the hospital; as well as news about the progress of Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s major expansion plan to bring its special brand of family-centered care to even more patients and families. Donations raised have a direct impact on patient care. All money raised will support programs and services Phoenix Children’s offers to its patients and families, many of which are not covered by medical insurance.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital is Arizona’s only licensed children’s hospital, providing world-class care in more than 40 pediatric specialties to our state’s sickest kids. Though Phoenix Children’s is one of the ten largest freestanding children’s hospitals in the country, rapid population growth in Arizona means the Hospital must grow as well. Phoenix Children’s recently announced a $588 million expansion plan to bring its special brand of family-centered care to even more patients and families. The plan includes a significant upgrade of the Hospital’s current campus, an aggressive physician recruitment effort, and new satellite centers in high growth areas of the Valley.
