Phoenix – The Notre Dame Club of Phoenix and St. Joseph the Worker invite the community to help keep the homeless hydrated.

Bottled water or monetary donations will be collected on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 8 to 10 a.m.

St. Theresa Parish and Catholic School
5045 E. Thomas Road in Phoenix
(50th Street and Thomas Road)

Monetary donations from the public can be made directly to St. Joseph the Worker by visiting the website: www.sjwjobs.org or mailing checks to P.O. Box 13503, Phoenix, AZ 85002. All contributions are tax-deductible.

Bottled water donations are welcome throughout the summer. Call 602-417-9854 for more information.

Consider:

  • Summer temperatures will reach up to 120 degrees.
  • In 2007, there were 50 heat-related deaths.
  • Homeless individuals are especially susceptible to heat-related illness and death.
  • Water will go to St. Joseph the Worker and the Human Services Campus, which provide services to more than 800 homeless individuals each day.

The Notre Dame Club of Phoenix is celebrating the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker (May 1, 2009), a day to reflect on how we use the gifts and talents we have been given to strengthen our community and society as a whole. Every act we do at work, no matter how small, is meaningful when we put our best effort into the task. This is also a time to remember our responsibility to protect the dignity of all workers. The Notre Dame Club’s celebration of this Feast Day is one of the Club’s service projects as they join and participate nationally in the Notre Dame Alumni Association’s Hesburgh Month of Service. www.ndclubofphoenix.com.
