Valley Horse Rescue Hosts Inaugural “Luv Shack Challenge”

Event to showcase seven rescued and re-trained horses in need of homes; nonprofit organization brings animals and at-risk children together

Phoenix, Ariz. - The Luv Shack Ranch Horse Rescue, a nonprofit dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abused horses, is hosting its inaugural Luv Shack Challenge exhibition at 9:00a.m. on May 16, 2009 at 31614 Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix.

The Luv Shack Challenge was conceived to help find each of the seven horses a loving home, while spotlighting the plight of horses suffering from neglect and abuse in Arizona. Given today’s economic climate, those at The Luv Shack and other animal rescues have been over-whelmed by the increasing number of creatures in desperate need of help.

The exhibition, modeled after the Mustang Smackdown, is a competition among volunteer trainers and the rescued horses they’ve been working with for 90 days to prepare.  From trick riding to Western pleasure to hunt seat competition, guests will experience an exciting and heartwarming show where the horses and trainers will be judged on technical skills, artistic value and crowd appreciation. 

“Since the inception of The Luv Shack Ranch in 2005, we’ve worked hard to provide a safe-haven for mistreated horses and it’s been quite amazing to experience all of the outreach and community support,” said Joey Ogburn, founder and president of The Luv Shack Ranch Horse Rescue.  “The Luv Shack Challenge is sure to be an uplifting and thrilling show for all.”
