Leave it to superstar Toby Keith to create a restaurant that offers great food and live entertainment. Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill, the 20,000 square foot restaurant and bar named after the singer/songwriter’s hit song, “I Love this Bar and Grill,” opened for business this week after months of anticipation and interest.
“Because Toby and I are committed to making this place a destination for his fans and all our guests, this has been a long and challenging process at times.” owner Frank Capri said, “We needed to make sure the venue was perfect for our customers’ total experience. Every detail had to be just right. When Toby’s friends and guests visit the restaurant, I think they will agree that we were successful.”
The restaurant provides live music and dancing; multiple HDTV monitors for viewing sporting events; “Toby,” a mechanical bull; and home-cooked Southern style fare with friends. The centerpiece of the restaurant is the 85-foot guitar-shaped bar. There are two VIP rooms and an exclusive private dining room available for rental as well as a large stage with a bigger-than-life mural of Toby Keith as a back drop. And just as the song says, there is never a cover charge.
“We are excited to be part of this community and the valley.” General manager Scott Smith said, “We hosted our first private party this week for the 25th Anniversary of the Mesa Convention and Visitors’ Bureau with close to 300 guests and it was a great success. This Friday and Saturday we will kick-off our live music performances with Tony Marques, the original house band from Toby Keith’s Las Vegas.”
The restaurant, consistent with other Toby Keith’s eating establishments, also offers a one-time meal deal in honor of the men and women who serve our country so courageously, free of charge, to active military personnel with valid military identification. The special includes an American Soldier burger, choice of side, and a non-alcoholic beverage.
“We want our soldiers to know there is a place where they are appreciated for what they have done, and continue to do, for this country.” Capri said, “We look forward to serving them and thanking them for that service.”
Toby Keith’s I Love this Bar and Grill is located in the theater district at Mesa Riverview, 1065 North Dobson Road in Mesa. Hours are 11:00am to 2:00am Monday through Friday serving lunch and dinner and 7:00am through 2:00am on Saturday and Sunday serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The restaurant’s grand opening is slated for late May or early June and will feature live music, great food, dancing, and a special guest appearance by Toby Keith.

Toby Keith has been among the top musical performers in any genre throughout this decade. Forbes named him the Top Earning Male Musician of 2008, and BMI recently certified his songs as having received more than 60 million feature performances. And his business empire is almost as expansive as his hit making ability, encompassing restaurants, movies, a clothing line and his own record label, Show Dog Nashville. His current single “Lost You Anyway” is climbing the charts in the wake of his 25th No. 1 single, “God Love Her.” Both songs are from his most recent critically acclaimed album That Don’t Make Me A Bad Guy. And his tours continue to be among the top-drawing concerts in the world of entertainment.
