Bryan Gibson, President of Operations for Southwest Ambulance, announced the selection of Holly Walter as the organization’s Public Information Officer. Walter will coordinate the development and maintenance of Southwest’s internal and external communications efforts and serve as the company’s spokesperson and community contact.
Prior to her move to Southwest Ambulance, Walter served the City of Mesa, Arizona and the Mesa Police Department for more than eight years in several public relations positions. In her final assignment before joining Southwest Ambulance, Walter was a marketing and communications specialist for Mesa’s Office of Economic Development.
“Holly Walter is very familiar with municipal government, media relations and the importance of building strong community relationships, ” said Gibson. “She brings a wealth of knowledge, as well as enthusiasm, to the Southwest Ambulance team.”
Walter facilitated several of the Mesa Police Department’s public safety programs and developed MPD’s HEAT (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) Program. In 2004, Walter was recognized as the Arizona Crime Prevention Specialist of the Year for her public awareness efforts. She later transitioned to assignments within the MPD’s Public Information Office, where she served as the department’s primary spokesperson and Media Relations Director.
Walter received a B.A. degree in Journalism from Arizona State University, and M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Relations from Northern Arizona University. She is an adjunct online faculty member at the University of Phoenix within the Communications Program and a current member of the Arizona Public Information Officers Association. She is a published author and has written several articles on economic development and public safety issues.
Walter is a resident of Mesa where she actively volunteers with Mesa Public Schools and participates in other local civic and professional groups. She particularly enjoys serving as an advocate for the National Marrow Donor Program and the JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes.
