Top Cancer Surgeon Joins Scottsdale Healthcare

Perennial ‘Best Doctors’ Awardee Specializes in Endocrine, Pancreatic and other Rare Tumors

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – One of America’s top surgeons specializing in endocrine cancer, Michael J. Demeure, MD, is now practicing at Scottsdale Healthcare. His expertise is in cancer surgery for tumors of the thyroid, parathyroids, adrenal glands and pancreas.

Dr. Demeure is accepting new patients and referrals. His practice, Scottsdale Healthcare Cancer Surgery, is located at 10460 N. 92nd St., Suite 200, Scottsdale 85258; telephone 480-323-1570. The office is located within the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center.

Dr. Demeure comes to Scottsdale from the University of Arizona, where he was a tenured professor of surgery and chief of the Division of General Surgery. He is current president of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and named one of the Best Doctors in America every year since 2002.

“A physician of Dr. Demeure’s stature is a welcome addition to the Scottsdale Healthcare medical staff,” said Susan Brown, associate vice president, oncology services. “He has authored more than 75 works in scientific journals and textbooks, including recent articles on Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, and recently spoke at the American Association for Cancer Researchers national meeting.”

In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Demeure serves as scientific director of the Endocrine Tumors Center at TGen Clinical Research Services at Scottsdale Healthcare. His work at TCRS focuses on new treatments for adrenal and pancreatic cancers. He also holds an appointment at TGen as senior investigator, Division of Clinical Translational Research. Scottsdale Healthcare is a clinical research site for TGen.

Dr. Demeure earned his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia in 1983. He completed surgical residencies at Hahnemann University Hospital and the University of Arizona, followed by a special fellowship in General and Endocrine Surgery at St. John of God Medical Centre in Perth, Australia and a research fellowship in Endocrine Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He holds an MBA from the University of Arizona.
